Frequently Asked Questions

Does this AI text humanizer use an AI model?+

No. It applies a limited set of English editing rules locally. It can simplify common phrases but cannot perform intelligent paraphrasing or understand context.

Do I need an API key?+

No. Text processing runs in your browser without a provider account or API call.

Can I keep keywords and names unchanged?+

Yes. Enable protection and enter up to 20 exact, case-sensitive terms. Matching occurrences are excluded from editing. URLs, email addresses, supported quotes, and backtick code are also protected.

Will the text pass AI detectors?+

There is no such guarantee. This tool does not check authorship or display detection scores. Use it for editing, not as proof of human authorship.

Why is my result unchanged?+

Your text may not contain a matching phrase or word, or those words may be protected. Identical inputs and settings always produce the same output.

Does it preserve meaning?+

Meaning preservation is not guaranteed. Rules do not understand context. Review the result, especially technical, legal, or medical wording.

Is my text sent to a server?+

No. This tool processes text and creates exports locally. It keeps your current draft and undo history only in tab memory.

Can I download a Word document?+

Yes. Export DOCX or TXT, or copy your edited text. TXT and Markdown are supported for input; Word and PDF uploads are not.

About this tool

Free AI Text Humanizer

Polish AI Text Without an API Key

The WebToolsEdge AI Text Humanizer is a rule-based English text polisher for AI-written or personal drafts. It does not run a language model. Use it for small wording edits, optional contractions, and common US or UK spelling changes without an API key. Original and edited text stay available for comparison. It cannot deeply paraphrase a passage or understand its meaning.

How Local Text Polishing Works

The phrase setting shortens selected expressions, such as "in order to" to "to" and "at this point in time" to "now." The phrases-and-words setting also simplifies a small vocabulary list, for example "utilize" to "use." Optional contractions change expressions such as "do not" to "don't." Turning contractions off leaves existing contractions unchanged.

The US and UK options convert a limited set of common spellings, not every regional difference. Both editing levels preserve paragraph breaks and sentence order. The same input and settings produce the same result. If none of the rules match, the tool returns the original passage and reports that no edits were found. It does not insert filler, random synonyms, or deliberate mistakes.

Protect Keywords and Links

Enable term protection and enter up to 20 comma-separated names or phrases to keep them unchanged. Matching is literal and case-sensitive, so enter the spelling used in the source. Every matched occurrence is excluded from editing. URLs, email addresses, double-quoted passages, curly-quoted passages, and backtick code are also left unchanged. Automatic detection is limited; explicitly protect any other sensitive phrase or name.

Compare and Export Your Draft

Paste 20 to 12,000 characters or combine up to 10 TXT or Markdown files with a maximum combined size of 60 KB. Select Polish text, compare the result with the original, and edit it directly as needed. Word counts, character counts, and approximate words per sentence help you compare length. Restore a previous result with Undo, copy the text, or download TXT or DOCX. Word and PDF uploads are not supported.

For a separate reading assessment, use the Content Readability Score Checker. Word Counter and Text Space Cleaner are useful for length and formatting checks.

Limitations and Privacy

Rules cannot establish whether a replacement fits every context. Review names, claims, negations, quotations, and technical language before publishing. Numbers are not intentionally changed, and a number-change notice helps you review manual output edits. Counts and warnings are not a factual or semantic check.

This tool does not generate AI-detection scores, measure perplexity, or guarantee detector outcomes. It does not change narrative perspective, perform academic rewriting, or verify a reading grade. Follow the authorship and disclosure requirements that apply to your work.

The text polisher and file exports run in your browser. Passages are not sent to a rewriting server and are not saved in browser storage. The current draft and a short undo history remain in tab memory until reset or closed. No provider account, API key, model download, or paid API request is needed. Downloaded documents remain on your device until you remove them.

After revising a draft, assess sentence complexity with the Content Readability Score Checker, check its length with the Word Counter, or tidy pasted formatting with Text Space Cleaner.
